Our teaching is guided by the belief that the study of 历史 and the 社会 sciences provides students with the foundation to evaluate their world and their places in it. We teach our students that the tools and disciplines of multiple 社会 sciences must not be confined to their own specialized field, 而是用来互相支持的. 作为一个部门, we believe the best teaching and learning begin with careful planning and guided support, 让学生在调查中学习. When you walk into 黛安娜 Haleas’ classroom, you can’t miss one particularly celebrational photo. It shows the 社会 studies teacher with some of her students from the Saint Ignatius Model United Nations. 笑得合不拢嘴, and it captures what she calls one of her best moments in teaching: When SIMUN clinched the national title.

Haleas自1999年以来一直领导SIMUN. She joined the teaching community here at Ignatius eleven years before that. Her name is important because she is the person who inspired 圣依纳爵学院预科 teacher, Dr. 马修·史蒂文·米勒，对历史感兴趣.

Following in his father’s footsteps, 梦露 started coaching his senior year of high school.

毕业后, 梦露在附近的一所高中开始了他的职业生涯, where he shared his passion for 历史 and served as an assistant basketball coach.

Playing against 圣依纳爵学院预科 is ultimately what led him to the position he holds now.

“I would see how beautiful the building was and how welcoming the people were,” says 梦露. “I wanted to be a head coach, and I had a list of schools I wanted to be at. 圣依纳爵一直是我的头号人物.”

他继续说, “我在这里的每一刻, every person I’ve interacted with and all my experiences have only reaffirmed my original desire to be here. 这是一个很特别的地方.”

梦露 hopes his students leave the classroom with a feeling that they’re cared for. He wants them to know that he’s not only invested in their academic success but in them as people.

His advice to students: Make sure you always live with 爱 and pursue something you’re passionate about.

During the summer months, 艾德里安 Oryshkevych worked as a camp counselor.

It was through this summer job that he discovered his passion for teaching.

Oryshkevych hopes his students choose a career path that brings them genuine happiness, one that fulfills them and makes them feel as though they’re not working a day in their lives.

His advice for students: Find something you’re passionate about and run with it.
